Today will mark the 187^th league meeting between the teams, with the Reds having won 72 to the Blues' 57. It is the most played derby in English league football.

Last season Liverpool completed a fifth league double over the Blues in the Premier League era and their fourth in seven seasons.

The Reds have won 87 of the 218 meetings in all competitions, with Everton winning 66 and 65 ending all square.

There has not been a draw in the last 12 league meetings at Goodison, with Liverpool winning nine.

The Reds have lost just three of the last 25 meetings in the Premier League home and away - all at Goodison.

Liverpool have lost three of the last eight derbies at Goodison in the league but have won four of the last five.

Home and away, Liverpool have lost one of the last 11 league meetings - at Goodison in October 2010.

The last player to score a hat-trick in a league derby at Goodison was Ian Rush. He scored four in a 5-0 win in November 1982. He is the only Liverpool player to achieve the feat at the home of the Blues. That result is also our biggest ever win across the park.

Steven Gerrard has scored eight goals in 27 appearances against Everton - only Ian Rush, with 25, has scored more.

If Jamie Carragher makes an appearance, he will become only the sixth player in Liverpool history to play against the Blues on 30 occasions. Ian Rush, Bruce Grobbelaar, Alan Hansen, Ian Callaghan and Ronnie Whelan are the others.

A win today will see Liverpool win a fourth successive derby in all competitions for the first time since April 1991.

Only two members of the current Liverpool squad have scored for the club against Everton - Steven Gerrard (eight), Luis Suarez (two).

Steven Gerrard and Phil Neville are the only players in derby history to be sent off twice.

20 players have been sent off (11 at Goodison) in the 40 Premier League meetings between the clubs, with 11 men being red carded in the last 15 clashes. Of the 20, 13 have been Everton players, though Jack Rodwell's last season was later rescinded.  

Everton have had eight players sent off in the last 10 league meetings at Goodison.

Liverpool are looking to record back-to-back league wins for the first time since December.

Luis Suarez has scored five goals in his last seven league games, but not in his last two.

Raheem Sterling will become Liverpool's second youngest derby debutant if he plays. Only Michael Owen (17 years 308 days) was younger. Sterling could become the Reds' youngest scorer in this fixture at 17 years 325 days.

Only once this season have Liverpool scored in the last 20 minutes of a league game - Luis Suarez at Sunderland.

Everton have only scored more than twice against Liverpool in one of the last 91 league meetings. This came in the 3-0 win at Goodison in 2006.

Everton have been awarded seven penalties in post-war league derbies with five being scored and two missed. Liverpool during the same period have scored 11 of their 15.

All of Everton's nine Premier League victories over Liverpool have come in the first fixture of the season.

Only West Brom have prevented Everton scoring this season in 10 league and cup games. The Blues have failed to hit the net in only two of their last 21 matches in all competitions.

Everton 'keeper Tim Howard has made 191 successive Premier League appearances. It is currently the longest run of any top-flight player. 

In 2012 they have lost only twice in the league at Goodison - Bolton (1-2) and Arsenal (0-1).

They have not lost by more than one goal in front of their home fans since last season's derby fixture. 

Everton have kept one clean sheet in the last seven games - at Swansea where they won 3-0.
