Pepe Reina and Glen Johnson will sit out Liverpool's Capital One Cup fourth-round tie with Swansea City on Wednesday night as they continue to recover from injury, first-team coach Mike Marsh has confirmed.

Reina was only deemed fit enough to be on the bench against Everton on Sunday following a hamstring complaint, while Johnson was ruled out altogether after picking up a knock against Anzhi Makhachkala.

Marsh told Liverpoolfc.com: "They're both unavailable for the Swansea game. We'll see where they are after that."

Liverpool emerged from the 2-2 draw with Everton with no fresh injury worries.

"The boys have come out of it [the derby] well and they're all fit and strong," Marsh added. "One or two are carrying knocks.

"We play Swansea tomorrow in the Capital One Cup and it's a chance to rest one or two and give one or two other players a chance to get some game time."
