Reds pair in award contention
Liverpool defensive duo Martin Kelly and Martin Skrtel have been included among the final nominees selected for the 2012 Northwest Football Awards.
Skrtel is in contention for the Premier League Player of the Year award alongside Vincent Kompany of Manchester City and Manchester United's Antonio Valencia.
His teammate Kelly is one of six young talents to be nominated for the Rising Star award, with the gala ceremony to take place on Monday 12 November.
The Northwest Football Awards were established five years ago to celebrate the various achievements of the 23 professional clubs in the region.
