Thanks to a couple of ridiculously entertaining 4-3 wins for Liverpool FC back in the mid-90s this has remained one of the most anticipated Barclays Premier League fixtures for the Anfield faithful each season.

At Anfield, Newcastle have failed to win in their last 17 visits, managing just two draws during that run. A statistic like this certainly justifies Liverpool FC's 4/7 match price. The last time Newcastle won a game at Anfield was in the League Cup, a 1-0 win back in November 1995.

LFC have scored three goals against Newcastle in their last four visits to Anfield and in five of their last seven. In each of these seven wins the Reds have won by at least a two-goal margin. This makes Liverpool -1 goal at 6/4 look a very tempting proposition. You can also get 12/5 on there being exactly three or four Liverpool goals.

Although disappointed to have a goal incorrectly ruled out for offside against Everton, Luis Suarez was a constant threat throughout the 2-2 draw at Goodison Park on Sunday. The Uruguayan was only awarded one of the two goals but that still brings his tally to eight goals in 13 games this season. If given the nod to start by manager Brendan Rodgers, Suarez will be the favourite to score first at 9/2 with Paddy Power.

Raheem Sterling impressed again at Goodison Park and in scoring his first senior goal against Reading two weeks ago the 17-year-old displayed a cool head with a composed finish. He is 9/1 to score first and 11/4 to score anytime in this game.

There's no doubt that Newcastle will provide a tough test for Liverpool, bringing a forward line which can trouble any defence in the Barclays Premier League.

However, Newcastle's record at Anfield doesn't point towards an away win - Liverpool have won the last seven - and Brendan Rodgers' side have become a tougher nut to crack at home in recent weeks.

A 4-3 home win pays out at 100/1 but Liverpool to win 3-1 at 11/1 should be a little closer to the mark.
