Glen Johnson scored the first goal of his professional career against Newcastle in November 2003 in a 5-0 Chelsea home win. Stewart Downing scored his first ever league goal nine years ago today for Sunderland in a 3-1 win at Gillingham.

The Reds are unbeaten in their last four league games, their best run since last December when they went five without defeat.

This is the seventh successive game that Liverpool have played within the city of Liverpool. The only time this sequence has happened was in January 1902.

The only Newcastle player to score a goal at Anfield was Patrick Kluivert in a 3-1 defeat in December 2004. The only goal the Magpies have claimed since was last season's Daniel Agger own goal.

Alan Pardew has masterminded two wins over Liverpool in his four games as Newcastle boss. They are his only victories in nine meetings with the Reds with his three managerial clubs (Charlton and West  Ham being the others).

The Magpies are seeking their first away win of the season in the Premier League - having lost at Chelsea and drawn at Everton, Reading and Sunderland.

They have lost only once in the last 12 games in all competitions - both to Manchester United (2-1 away in League Cup and 3-0 at home in league).

Demba Ba has scored six goals in his last six games. He scored twice on his last visit to Merseyside in the 2-2 draw at Everton in September.

Of the five league goals Newcastle have scored away from home this season, Ba has netted four.
