Wirral set for Shankly fever
Make sure you don't miss the highly-acclaimed Shankly Show featuring Kop icons on stage at the Gladstone Theatre, Port Sunlight, Wirral, on Friday, December 28.
The Shankly Show by respected journalist and author John Keith has played to many a packed house throughout the city and indeed further afield in Ireland and Norway, and it's back for a Christmas special.
Ian St John, the Colossus Ron Yeats, Ian Callaghan and Chris Lawler will all be live on stage revealing their own memories and anecdotes about the iconic Anfield manager.
The show is narrated by actor Steve Hazelhust and Keith who will also be speaking in the dulcet tones of the great man himself - for one night only at the Gladstone on Friday, December 28.
After the show members of the audience can meet the whole cast for autographs and photographs as a lasting souvenir of an evening of football nostalgia and celebration.
Shankly's distinctive tartan tones will echo around the theatre in a series of exclusive audio clips of the most charismatic manager in the history of English football, backed by rolling images of the Scot who revolutionised Liverpool fortunes.
Now, as the 100th anniversary of Shankly's birth approaches next year , the acclaimed production comes to the Gladstone for the first time.
Commenting on the show, iconic Anfield No.9 St John said: "The magnetic attraction of Shanks is evident in the audiences that come to see the show.
"Young and old alike, and supporters not only of Liverpool but other clubs too, come along to hear the story of a man who was not only a great football figure but a larger-than-life character. His legend just goes on and on."
Record appearance holder Callaghan added: "Every time I walk through the Anfield gates I think of Shankly because the club would not have the stature it has today without him.
"He was like a second father to me and without doubt he was the father of the modern Liverpool. There will never, ever be anyone like him and we were privileged to play for him."
Tickets are £16 with £13 concessions, and are now on sale and would make a perfect Christmas present for family or friends.
They are available in person from the Gladstone Theatre box office - adjacent to Port Sunlight Merseyrail station - Monday to Friday between 9am to 4pm GMT or by calling 0151 643 8757.
