Brendan Rodgers believes Luis Suarez has firmly established himself among the elite bracket of the world's finest footballers – and insists there is no team on the planet that wouldn't want Liverpool's No.7 leading their line.

The Uruguay striker has been in sensational form in 2012-13, firing 10 goals in just 15 appearances.

Rodgers is naturally thrilled with the efforts of Suarez and claims there is no finer player in the Barclays Premier League on current form.

The manager said: "We have one of the best strikers in the world in Luis Suarez now. Luis is up there in that one per cent of world-class strikers.

"There is no team in the world who would not want Luis Suarez in it. When I look at what he gives us consistently, I don't think there's anyone else in the division who's better.

"I have been very fortunate in my life to have worked with top strikers, but this is a guy whose energy is relentless. Look at how he's asked to press the game, for defenders he is a nightmare.

"He never gives them a breather, always making them think. He plays on the limit all the time and he wants to score goals, so he is a great reference point for our team.

"A lot of the time this season he has played the back four on his own. People are looking at Liverpool and thinking if they can control Suarez they might cut out our threat, but they are still unable to do it."
