LFC volunteer wins national award
Brendan Rodgers recently extended a special invitation to a Liverpool FC Foundation Respect 4 All volunteer after she won a highly-prestigious national award.
Earlier this year, Kathryn Roberts picked up the National Coach of the Year accolade - and upon hearing the news, was asked to pop along to Melwood by the boss so he could personally congratulate her on her achievement.
After a good chat with Rodgers, Kathryn then met her idols Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher and Lucas Leiva.
"I was delighted with my award and accept it on behalf of everyone at the Respect 4 All programme," she said. "Being invited to Melwood was a special experience and meeting Brendan Rodgers and the players made it a day I will never forget."
Mark Bygroves, Liverpool FC Foundation coach, added: "The Respect 4 All programme helps people with disabilities to participate in sport in an environment that is safe and suitable to their ability level.
"Kathryn has multiple disabilities but supports the programme in delivering disability soccer camps where she coaches football to children with a variety of disabilities such as cerebral palsy, severe learning difficulties or visual impairment."
"Kathryn is a real inspiration to others and everyone at the LFC Foundation is extremely delighted that she has been recognised by the FA National Football Futures programme."
The FA Football Futures Awards have been created to recognise and celebrate the achievements of young people and the impact that they have had on grassroots football.
Award winners were selected from nominations submitted by all 50 county FAs and other football partners and were presented with their accolades at a ceremony at Wembley stadium.
