Gerrard is one goal away from equalling Michael Owen's club record of 12 goals in the competition. His next goal will see him become the first Liverpool player to score 40 goals for the club in Europe.

If he plays, Reina will break Ray Clemence's club record of most appearances by a goalkeeper in Europe. This will be his 81st game.

Of the 336 games Liverpool have played in European competition, 190 have ended in victory. There have been an equal number of draw and defeats - 73.

125 of those fixtures have been in the Europa League and its previous guises, with the Reds recording 69 wins. A further 30 games have been drawn and 26 lost.

In their nine previous games against Swiss opposition, the Reds have lost just once - to Servette in Geneva in the Cup Winners' Cup in September 1971. They are unbeaten in the last eight.

Stewart Downing is the only Reds player to have appeared in all eight European games this season - with seven starts and one substitute appearance.

The winger is one of only three players with as many as three assists in the group stages so far.

In those games, the Reds have used 30 players - with 17 of them playing in Europe for the Reds for the first time.

Only Group I (containing Lyon, Sparta Prague, Hapoel Kiryat Shmona and Athletic Bilbao) with 30, has seen more goals scored than Liverpool's group (28).

Luis Suarez has scored all his 13 goals this season in his last 15 appearances - and has found the net in each of his last five.

If he scores against Young Boys he will be the first Reds player since Gerrard in November 2007 to score in six successive appearances. Stevie's run in that sequence actually stretched to seven.

In the reverse fixture at Young Boys, Jonjo Shelvey became only the fifth Liverpool player to score twice in a European game after coming on as substitute.

During that game, Andre Wisdom scored on his debut while Oussama Assaidi and Suso both played their first games for Liverpool.

It was the fourth time that Liverpool had scored four goals in an away game in Europe - the others being Reykjavik (1964), Crusaders (1976) and Haka (2001).

Young Boys have been champions of Switzerland on 11 occasions - the last being in 1986. They have also lifted the cup six times, the most recent victory coming in 1987. They finished as league runners-up in 2009 and 2010.

Their best-ever season in Europe came in 1959 when they reached the semi-finals of the European Cup, losing to Stade de Reims 3-1 on aggregate.

Their biggest European victory came in August 1960 when they won 5-0 at Limerick, while they suffered their heaviest defeat at the hands of Steaua Bucharest in 1979-80, going down 6-0.

Young Boys have scored nine goals in their four group games so far. Only Lyon (11) and Dnipro (10) have scored more.

However, they have conceded 10 goals. Only Rapid Vienna of the 48 teams have let in more (11).

In their last 14 games they have scored 32 goals, but last Sunday at home to St. Gallen, they kept their first clean sheet in 15 matches.

They currently lie in fifth place in the league having won four of their 15 fixtures, winning only one of those matches away from home.

Raul Bobadilla is the second-top scorer in the group stage with four goals. Napoli's Edinson Cavani has scored the most with five. All of Bobadilla's goals have come in the last two games against Udinese.
