'We made history in Wales'
Liverpool must be ready for a tough challenge when they travel to Swansea City on Sunday, according to a man who knows exactly what to expect from the Welsh club – Colin Pascoe.
The Reds' assistant manager spent two seasons alongside Brendan Rodgers at the Liberty Stadium before arriving at Anfield, where the Swans were victorious in the Capital One Cup last month.
Pascoe has nothing but praise for the football played by his former club but is relishing a return to Swansea and confident that the Reds can produce a sound performance.
"It's great going back to see old friends at the Liberty," Pascoe told Liverpoolfc.com. "We had some great times there, and made history there for Swansea - the first Welsh club to get in the Premier League.
"We'll be going there to win the game and put a good performance on, but we can't underestimate Swansea. They're a good side and they pass the ball well, and they're well organised.
"As I always do in football games, you're looking forward to it. Nervous, apprehensive as ever, but with a positive attitude with the lads and the way they've been prepared, that we'll put on a good performance.
"The way that we've been going about things has been superb. The attitude of the lads, passing the ball and actually working hard off the ball, has been fantastic. We need that, and we will need it at the Liberty because it's a tough place to go."
Pascoe insisted that previous allegiances will be forgotten when Sunday's game begins, while the 3-1 cup defeat in October has no bearing on this match in the Barclays Premier League.
The assistant manager added: "Once the game gets going, you get focused and that's the priority. Everyone gets focused on what they've got to do.
"Swansea played well, they're a good side, they pass the ball around. The way we've been performing recently, we can take heart that going into the game that the performances have been excellent. We're looking forward to it.
"At the Liberty it will be a different game. Swansea have lost one game this season, I think it was Everton, and it will be a tough game. But the way that we're performing recently gives us a good chance of getting the result that we want."
