LFC mourns former manager Taylor
Liverpool Football Club was today saddened to hear of the passing of former captain and manager Phil Taylor at the age of 95.
A fine half-back who signed from Bristol Rovers in 1936, Taylor scored 32 goals in 343 appearances for the Reds - many while wearing the captain's armband.
He then made the transition to coach and eventually manager, taking the reins between 1956 and 1959 before Bill Shankly arrived at Anfield.
Taylor was one of our truly great servants and everyone at the club would like to offer their thoughts and prayers to his family at this time.
