Jordan's vow: There's more to come
Jordan Henderson vowed that there is more to come from him after he rifled home the goal that sank Udinese on Thursday night and ensured Liverpool topped Europa League Group A.
It was the 22-year-old's first goal of the current campaign on a night when, in the group's other fixture, Young Boys overcame Anzhi Makhachkala 3-1 to put pressure on Brendan Rodgers' side.
Henderson is hopeful his winning goal - which took Liverpool into the last 32 - can provide the perfect platform for him to push on in the coming weeks.
"I think there's still a lot more to come to be honest. I'm still working hard," he told Liverpoolfc.com. "The goal tonight might just give me a little bit more confidence. I just have to keep going, keep working hard and keep smiling really.
"It's always nice to score goals. I have had some good chances of late and haven't been able to put them away, so I was pleased to put that one away.
"The most important thing was the performance and the result. I'm pleased with that."
Young Boys' result meant that the Reds were able to celebrate not only progression to the knockout phase but a first-place finish in Group A.
And Henderson insists the visitors were good value for their win on Thursday night.
"That's what we wanted to do - top the group," he said. "We'll look forward to coming back into the competition in February.
"We weren't aware of the other results - we were just concentrating on ourselves. We knew that if we won, then we would go through and I'm glad that we managed to do that.
"At the end they had a good chance but I think overall we deserved to win."
