Luis Suarez has been ranked in the top 10 players in the world by Match of the Day magazine.

The Uruguayan entered the countdown of the 100 best players at number nine ahead of the likes of Edinson Cavani, Juan Mata, Wayne Rooney and Gareth Bale.

Only two Barclays Premier League stars were ranked higher than the 25-year-old; Manchester City's Yaya Toure and Manchester United's Robin van Persie, who came eighth and fourth respectively.

There was also a place for Steven Gerrard in the list as the Liverpool skipper came in at number 77 in the feature.

Barcelona's Lionel Messi topped the list ahead of second-placed Cristiano Ronaldo and third-placed Radamel Falcao.
