Steven Gerrard has scored more goals against Aston Villa than any other team throughout his 14-year Anfield career.

The captain's total of 10 goals against the Villains has been bettered only by Robbie Fowler, who netted 12 times against the Midlanders.

And as Villa prepare to visit Anfield on Saturday, Gerrard will be hoping to continue his fine vein of form against them. Here are some more facts from club statistician Ged Rea to get you in the mood for the weekend's clash.

In the Premier League era, Liverpool have won 21 meetings and Villa 10, with the other nine being drawn, while at Anfield the Reds have won 12 and lost four of the 20 clashes.

The Reds have scored 18 goals in the last seven home games against Aston Villa.

Liverpool's biggest win over Saturday's opponents came in October 1953 when they won 6-1.

They have gained 72 points against Villa in the Premier League - more than against any other team. Next come Newcastle (70) and Everton (68).

The Reds are five goals short of recording 200 against Villa in all home league games.

Martin Skrtel nears his 200th game for the Reds. His debut came as a substitute against Villa on this ground in January 2008 in a 2-2 draw.

Jamie Carragher has played against Aston Villa more times than any other Liverpool player - 30 times in total while his first-ever league goal came against today's opponents in January 1997.

Alexander Doni made his Liverpool debut in the Anfield meeting between the sides last April.

Doni's debut came as a result of Pepe Reina's sending off at Newcastle in the previous game. That meant Reina's run of 183 successive league games and 16,463 consecutive minutes of league action came to an end.

Five Liverpool players have scored league hat-tricks against Villa - Bobby Graham (1964), Ian Rush (1984), Robbie Fowler (1998), Michael Owen (2000) and Steven Gerrard (2009).

Only three overseas-born players have scored more Premier League goals for Liverpool than Luis Suarez. Fernando Torres (65), Dirk Kuyt (51) and Patrik Berger (28) have more than the Uruguayan's 25.

A win for Liverpool will see the Reds record a third successive home league victory for the first time since May 2011.

Liverpool have kept successive home clean sheets against Wigan and Southampton. Another one in this game will see them keep three in a row for the first time since May 2011.

Joe Cole has scored two goals in his last three appearances for the Reds.

10 of the 13 goals that Luis Suarez has scored this season have come in the second half.

Brendan Rodgers will manage for the 150th time in the league. His record shows 57 wins, 39 draws and 53 defeats. His teams have scored 198 goals in that time.

Villa have won once in the last 10 visits to Anfield - winning 3-1 in August 2009. Lucas (o.g), Curtis Davies and Ashley Young netted for the Villains.

The last Villa player to score a hat-trick in the fixture was George Brown. He scored four in his side's 6-1 win at Villa Park in January 1932.

Aston Villa have won once in their last 16 Premier League games away from home. Gabriel Agbonlahor scored the only goal at Sunderland last month. Home and away they are unbeaten in the last four games in the league with one win and three draws.

Their total of 12 in the league this season is the lowest of any team in the top four divisions.

Christian Benteke and Darren Bent have played just 90 minutes of football together in the last 14 games in league and cup.
