'Why December 24 is important'
The Reds may be preparing for four crucial games throughout the busy festive football period, but defender Jose Enrique is waiting for another special gift – the birth of his son.
Enrique junior is expected to arrive on Christmas Eve, just two days before our visit to Stoke.
"I love it because he's coming probably on December 24 so it's one day before Christmas," the 26-year-old explained to Liverpoolfc.com. "It will change my mentality. It would be a massive day.
"[Normally] I like Christmas but for me it's a normal day. It's special but it's another day - if I have to play, I don't really care."
English football bucks the trend of its European neighbours, with the league campaign intensifying at a time when other countries take a break from the action.
But five years on these shores has helped Enrique adapt to the nation's traditions - and the left-back can look forward to spending quality time with his family when football does pause.
He continued: "In Spain you stop for a week. If you are away from home, it helps you have energy.
"Here I am used to it - I have been here for years so I don't mind playing at Christmas.
"I have my brother here already. My family get together at Christmas and after they will come too."
Family matters will be no distraction for the Liverpool man, though, who hopes for Champions League football as an added Christmas gift this year.
"My baby is my best present and in football, to try to be as high as we can - I want to be in the Champions League this year."
