LFC Foundation's special Santa Cycle
Liverpool city centre was awash with red on Sunday when hundreds of cyclists clad in Santa Claus costumes poured through its streets as part of the LFC Foundation's Santa Cycle.
As a direct result of the successful partnership between LFC's Men's Health programme and Breckfield North Everton Neighbourhood Council (BNENC), a team of 200 willing participants gathered to join the annual event.
Dressed in full Santa suits, they converged on the Liver Buildings at Liverpool's Pier Head, where proceedings got underway.
From there, the crowd snaked their way through the city centre and covered the eight miles to Alder Hey children's hospital, whereupon arrival, the cyclists delivered Christmas presents to some of the young patients.
The LFC Foundation's involvement in the cycle was prompted by the club's commitment to promoting events which encourage a healthier lifestyle.
Linking with BNENC, Liverpool continues to offer exciting, free cycling opportunities - the weekend's Santa Cycle being just one example.
Mark Haig, LFC Foundation head of operations, said: "This Santa Cycle has become a real feature in the LFC Foundation and BNENC cycling events calendar.
"What a great way for a community to bring some Christmas cheer to the children at Alder Hey Hospital and get in some physical activity as well."
