Reds launch Spanish language Twitter
Liverpool FC is delighted to officially announce the launch today of a Spanish-language Twitter account to help connect our supporters in Spain and Latin America.
@LFCEspanol, the new official Twitter account, is managed between Spain, South America and Liverpool and tweets exclusively in Spanish.
The Reds have always enjoyed great support in Spain and Latin America and with the arrival of Rafael Benitez, Xabi Alonso and Luis Garcia in 2004, our fan base amongst Spanish-speaking fans increased dramatically.
While all three proved an instant hit with fans, other Spanish-speaking players including Fernando Morientes, Fernando Torres and Alvaro Arbeloa all proved popular with supporters during Rafa's reign, while current stars including Luis Suarez, Pepe Reina, Suso, Sebastian Coates, Jose Enrique and Dani Pacheco continue to excite fans - not just at Anfield but in Spain and across the whole of Latin America.
The new @LFCEspanol Twitter account aims to provide an entertaining service for fans that count Spanish as their native language and help bring them closer to the club by directly engaging with them on a daily basis.
As well as tweeting all the news from the club in Spanish, @LFCEspanol will also conduct exclusive Twitter interviews with first-team players and give our Spanish-speaking fans a chance to interact with the club and connect with fellow fans around the world. Before every game, the account will also inform fans where they can watch the game on television in Spain and across the whole of South and Central America.
The launch of @LFCEspanol is the latest development as part of the club's concerted drive to connect the global LFC family digitally and follows the launch last week of @LFCIndia, the first official Twitter account for India by any Barclays Premier League club.
In November, Liverpool FC introduced @ThaiLFC, an official account for fans in Thailand, and @OfficialLFC_ID, an account for supporters in Indonesia - the club's first two international Twitter accounts. Less than two weeks ago, the club also launched an official presence on the Chinese social media platform Tencent which has already attracted over 140,000 followers.
Further local language official Twitter accounts are planned to launch in 2013.
