Sahin advocates winter break
Nuri Sahin thinks English football would benefit from introducing a winter break.
Tradition dictates that clubs play several games in quick succession over the festive period in England.
Sahin - who is currently recovering from an operation on his nose - is new to the Premier League but his time playing for Borussia Dortmund in Germany, Feyenoord in Holland and Real Madrid in Spain means he is accustomed to a fortnight's break at this time of year.
And he told Liverpool FC magazine: "I am a fan of the winter break because if you look at the German national team they go very, very far in big tournaments and they are fit for those same tournaments.
"I think a lot of that is because they have a two-week winter break where they can calm down before having a sharp little pre-season and then they are fit and ready to go again.
"I think it would be good for every player, for the health of the player and the quality of the games, if there was a little break. That is just my opinion."
