'We're going up against the best'
Manager Alex Inglethorpe and midfielder Marc Pelosi have discussed the challenge facing Liverpool's youngsters as they attempt to reach the knockout rounds of the NextGen Series by beating holders Inter Milan.
Our U19s need a victory over the Italians at Langtree Park to give themselves a chance of progressing from Group 5 as one of the best third-place teams in the competition.
And Inglethorpe is eager for his charges to test themselves against the cream of Europe.
"We can't wait," he told Liverpoolfc.com. "I thought Dortmund was a big game - we knew we had to win that to get into the position we're in now. It's almost like looking at a semi-final and final.
"You're aware of the opposition and show them a level of respect, but you're not playing Sneijder and co - you're playing against a group of players who are trying to become Inter Milan players.
"There'll be an element of respect, but no fear. We've got to be brave. I know Inter Milan will be strong, but then so will we. The players are looking forward to pitting themselves against the best."
Echoing the boss's thoughts was midfielder Marc Pelosi, who is confident that the NextGen side can learn from their 3-2 defeat against Inter earlier in the tournament.
"They're a good team, we saw that the first time we played them. It's going to be fun," said the American.
"We didn't have all of our players [in the first fixture]. We had some young players come in and do well, but we fell short 3-2. But, watching it back, we learned some things we can improve on - it's going to be a different game.
"Alex has been saying it's a cup final, because if we win we're through and if we lose we're tied or out.
"Inter Milan were great last year - you can see that their youth teams have been doing really well in the past few years."
The match - which kicks off at 7pm GMT - will be televised live on LFC TV and LFC TV Online, with an hour's build-up to the crucial tie starting at 6pm.
