Liverpool FC is delighted to announce the launch today of @TurkeyLFC, our latest official local-language account on the social media platform Twitter.

The account, Liverpool's eighth international Twitter launch since November, will tweet exclusively in Turkish and takes the number of languages the club now communicates in with fans on the platform up to eight.

For Liverpool supporters everywhere, the mere mention of Turkey, or more specifically the capital of Istanbul, immediately conjures up memories of that miraculous May night almost eight years ago when Rafael Benitez's team pulled off the greatest comeback in the history of football.

It was a night that added to the legend of Liverpool FC all over the world and no where more so than in Turkey, the host country itself. The Reds were already a popular draw in Turkey long before 2005 - largely due to the club's success in European competition during the late '70s and early '80s - but it was the joyful behaviour of the thousands of travelling fans who turned Taksim Square into a three-day festival around the final who won over a whole new generation of Turkish fans.

Starting today, @TurkeyLFC will deliver breaking news, live match updates, behind-the-scenes photos and exclusive competitions to Turkish-speaking fans anywhere in the world and give another important set of supporters an new channel through which to communicate and interact with the club without language being a barrier.
