'Everyone's excited to see duo combine'
Dietmar Hamann is relishing the prospect of watching new-boy Daniel Sturridge link with Luis Suarez - and the German is hoping to see the duo combine when Liverpool host Norwich on Saturday.
Suarez has demonstrated something of a knack for scoring in the weekend's fixture - both of his two Liverpool hat-tricks to date came in back-to-back wins over the Canaries at Carrow Road in 2012.
Sturridge meanwhile will be keen to make it three goals in three games for the Reds after strikes against Mansfield on his debut and then Manchester United at Old Trafford.
And Hamann believes pairing the two for Saturday's Anfield clash will fire the imagination of the home crowd and help secure three points for Brendan Rodgers' side.
"I think Sturridge has every chance of starting against Norwich," Hamann told Liverpoolfc.com. "There were some very promising signs from the 45 minutes that Suarez and Sturridge played together against Manchester United and I think he will be starting with Luis on Saturday.
"You'll never know how well their partnership will be until they play consistently but I think it's looked promising so far.
"It's a partnership that really excites the fans and everybody will be looking forward to seeing how they do on Saturday.
"The manager decided to keep Sturridge on the bench at Old Trafford initially because the team was on a good run - they had won seven out of nine games previous to the United match.
"So it was probably the right thing to do - to start him on the bench. He came on and had an immediate impact. He scored a goal, threatened a few times with his sheer pace and made the United defence drop deeper and deeper."
Sturridge halved the deficit on 57 minutes when he was alert enough to follow Steven Gerrard's effort in from range and tuck it past David de Gea when the 'keeper failed to gather the shot.
Later in the game, the 23-year-old had a chance to equalise when the ball broke to him inside the box but he was unfortunate to curl over the crossbar.
"We had a chance in the last five or six minutes when Sturridge missed an opportunity," said Hamann. "But if you don't play for the first 45 minutes at old Trafford, then it's very hard to take something out of the game.
"So yes, we'll be a bit aggrieved not to get a point because we had a chance at the end but if you look at the whole 90 minutes, I think United deserved to win the game."
