Brendan Rodgers hailed the attitude and determination of Jordan Henderson after the midfielder turned in a fine display during Liverpool's 5-0 victory over Norwich at Anfield.

Henderson's instinctive volley, mid-way through the first half, handed the Reds an all-important breakthrough on Saturday afternoon.

The 22-year-old went on to stamp his authority on the game operating alongside the equally-impressive Steven Gerrard.

And Rodgers was quick to praise Henderson's overall application, not just during the 77 minutes against the Canaries, but each day out on the training pitches at Melwood.

"Jordan is a terrific young talent," Rodgers told radio reporters following his side's impressive win. "People forget his age. He came here with a big price tag and it was always going to take him time.

"The great thing about him is he works his socks off every single day. You saw him [against Norwich], he presses, harries and works.

"He's also got great quality and the goal he scored was brilliant technique. He had to shape his body and it was a wonderful finish. That was a real vital goal for us because that gave us the flow in the game and confidence to go on and push on."

Stewart Downing supplied the killer ball that gave Liverpool a third and allowed Daniel Sturridge to make it three in three for his new club by netting a first Anfield goal in front of the Kop.

And Rodgers was keen to highlight the 28-year-old winger's lively contribution to what was a fluid and interchangeable attacking line-up on the day.

The manager added: "I thought Stewart did very well. He has been here a long time, but he has become very consistent now and offered us a great threat on that side.

"The front end of the pitch was very good for us. We had Daniel through the middle with his pace and power, but he also moves into space well. Luis is clever and bright and they combined very well.

"We had Jordan and Stewart either side of that coming into midfield and playing together and I thought our flow was very good at the top end."
