Aldo's Sturridge and Suarez warning
John Aldridge today warned Barclays Premier League defenders that the instant understanding Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge have struck up is only going to improve over the coming weeks.
The pair linked up superbly during Saturday's 5-0 rout of Norwich City at Anfield, with both men getting on the scoresheet.
For Sturridge, it was his third goal in as many appearances for the Reds since joining the club from Chelsea at the start of the month - and though highly impressed by what he's witnessed so far, Aldridge believes there is much more to come from the duo.
He wrote in the Liverpool Echo: "Some strike partnerships never get off the ground. Others take time to develop, while there are those which get better and better the more games the strikers play together.
"But some double acts just click - and Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez have clicked from the word go.
"I could see that straight away at Old Trafford from the moment Daniel ran onto the pitch.
"Since he has been around Luis Suarez has resembled a kid in a toy shop.
"The pair have a natural understanding already, and what's even more ominous for Premier League defenders is that the partnership is only going to get better.
"Daniel has really good feet - he gets the ball out of his feet very well - but what's even more impressive is his awareness.
"He knows what's going on around him and that's a quality which is difficult to coach into a player - you've either got it or you haven't.
"I'm convinced that if Daniel had been fully match fit and sharp when we played Manchester United we would have come away from Old Trafford with at least a draw.
"For a partnership to work together like Suarez and Sturridge did on Saturday - in what was their first start in the same team - was remarkable.
"The moment when Sturridge let the ball run through his legs for Suarez to race onto usually only comes when players have spent months learning each other's movements and games.
"For partnerships to click like that players have to have a football brain - and clearly both Suarez and Sturridge both have plenty of game-intelligence."
