Liverpool FC Ladies unveil their new-look squad on Saturday when they play their first pre-season friendly against Manchester City at their new home ground - the Halton Stadium in Widnes.

Kick-off is at 7.15pm GMT as boss Matt Beard begins his quest to put the club's ladies among the game's elite.

Admission for all home matches at the Halton Stadium during pre-season is just £2 for adults and £1 for children.

The new 2013 Women's Super League doesn't kick off until March, but the ladies have an extensive pre-season fixture programme and a cup match against Everton.

Additions to the squad such as Fara Williams and Natasha Dowie, signed locally from Everton, will be performing alongside players who come from much further afield, such as Whitney Engen and Katrin Omarsdotti, who hail from the USA and Iceland respectively.

Beard told Liverpoolfc.com: "We have only had everyone back for a week but we have made a good start. Everyone is mixing well and gelling well on the pitch.

"Saturday will be a good test for us and a good chance to see how the team puts our philosophy into place about how we want to play this season.

"We have a very good squad this season and I have been able to sign some quality players which will strengthen us and help Liverpool FC Ladies challenge at the top end of the table.

"We have a good blend of youth and experience which is important and we are confident we can have a good season."

The ladies will play all their home matches at the Halton Stadium and Beard is hoping they can make it a fortress.

He added: "We are now playing at one of the best stadiums in the Women's Super League and hopefully we can make it a fortress and make it difficult for other teams to come here."
