LFC launch Twitter for Australia & NZ
As Australia gears up to celebrate its national day on January 26, Liverpool FC are delighted to announce an early Australia Day present for our fans on the other side of the world.
Today marks the official launch of @LFCANZ - a dedicated LFC twitter channel for supporters in Australia and New Zealand.
Having already reached out to supporters in other countries around the world with the launch of localised Twitter accounts for the likes of Indonesia, Thailand, Turkey and India, @LFCANZ will be dedicated to bringing fans in Australia and New Zealand ever closer to the club they love.
The Reds have always enjoyed a massive following in Australia and New Zealand and the appearance of local heroes Craig Johnston and Harry Kewell in Liverpool shirts attracted even more fans to follow the club from afar.
Today, the connection remains strong through international Brad Jones and Academy youngster Brad Smith, born in Penrith, keeping the Australian flag flying on Merseyside.
In fact, in terms of supporters, Liverpool has more international members from Australia and New Zealand than from any other country in the world while outside of fans in the UK, Australians spend more money in the official online store than anyone else. When it comes to visiting the official website, only the UK, the United States and Ireland send more fans to www.liverpoolfc.com on a daily basis than Australia.
Now, with the launch of @LFCANZ, as well as giving fans in both countries a voice and platform to more easily engage with the club, we'll tailor content specifically for followers in the region - increasing the volume of what's relevant and cutting out what's not. The account will also act as hub for fans in both countries - making supporting the Reds and connecting with fellow fans easier than ever before.
