Enrique eyes City scalp

The left-back believes the display at Arsenal on Wednesday night showed Liverpool are improving and growing stronger with each Barclays Premier League game.

Enrique came off the bench in the second half to make his first appearance of 2013, and despite feeling frustrated at losing a two-goal lead, he claims the Reds can take a lot of heart from their display.

"I think when you get a draw away at Arsenal it is a good result for the team, but we were 2-0 up and I thought we deserved more," Enrique told Liverpoolfc.com.

"We played very well in the first half and had some chances to increase our score and were a little bit unlucky.

"In the second half they pressed us and made it difficult for us and both sides had chances, but it was a great game and in the end it's not a bad result.

"We have another very important game at Manchester City on Sunday and I think if we can play like we did on Wednesday night then we can win it.

"There is a long way to go in the race for the top-four and if we can take four points from these two games that would be fantastic.

"We won there last season in the Carling Cup and there's no reason why we can't do it again."

The Spaniard also had words of praise for returning custodian Pepe Reina who pulled off two world-class saves in the first 45 minutes, twice denying Theo Walcott.

He added: "Football is for moments and you have good and bad, but Pepe is an amazing goalkeeper, no doubt about that, and for me he is one of the best you can get.

"He is an amazing 'keeper for us and it was good to have him back."

For Enrique, it was his first minutes back in the first XI since he pulled his hamstring at QPR on December 30.

He is now hoping for a return to the starting line-up for Sunday's clash at the Etihad Stadium.

He said: "It feels good to be back and I felt okay and tried to get forward as much as I could.

"I just want to prove my fitness quickly now and help the team."
