British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion David Price and American world-title challenger Tony Thompson are to stage a public weigh-in for their highly-anticipated fight at Anfield, the home of Liverpool Football Club, on February 22.

Price (15-0) and Thompson (36-3) are scheduled to fight on February 23 at Liverpool's Echo Arena, and will weigh in at 1pm in the Reds Lounge in the Centenary Stand of the famous stadium - with all fight fans and members of the public welcome.

Liverpool heavyweight Price has revealed that weighing in at Anfield - as a loyal, lifelong Liverpool fan - gives him a significant personal boost and believes it will only be beaten by actually fighting there.

"It's a great place to have the weigh-in - it's close to my heart - and I'm happy Liverpool have given us the chance to do this again," said Price, who also weighed in at Anfield the day before his devastating 82-second knockout of Audley Harrison.

"It's brilliant for me - to have any links to the club is a massive honour. It's a good sign - my profile's growing all the time and it's my lifelong dream to fight at Anfield one day.

"A lot of people realise this is a fight between two of the top 10 heavyweights in the world and it's not often you see that type of fight happen.

"I hope the fans come along. It's going to be a massive night and a big step towards the top for me in my career."

Promoter Frank Maloney added: "It's great for David Price to have the weigh-in at the club he loves so much - it really adds something special to the fight.

"It inspires me as a promoter that Liverpool Football Club are acknowledging his achievements - this is another stepping stone towards having a big fight there."

Billy Hogan, Chief Commercial Officer at Liverpool, commented: "We are delighted to be able to hold David's weigh-in at Anfield. The stadium has been used as a venue for a number of events including conferences, dinners and weddings.

"We are looking forward to hosting Liverpool's born and bred boxing talent, David, and support him in his upcoming clash in the same way he supports us."

Kevin Satchell (9-0) and Luke Wilton (13-2-1) will also weigh in ahead of their British flyweight title fight, as will light-welterweight champion Darren Hamilton (12-2) and challenger Steve Williams (13-1), Adil Anwar (18-1) and the other undercard fighters.
