LFC Foundation launch Football for All
The Liverpool FC Foundation has launched a new football programme enabling thousands of children across the city to take part in fun and competitive tournaments.
The 'Football for All' programme recently held its first tournament at Goals Centre in Liverpool with over 160 kids taking part from 17 local schools.
LFC's official mascot, Mighty Red, also made an appearance to entertain the kids, pose for photos and present the winning medals.
Football for All will provide sporting opportunities for local boys and girls and will consist of regular tournaments as well as a weekly school football league, which will be held at the Anfield Sports and Community Centre.
Mark Haig, LFC Foundation's head of operations, said: "Our Football for All programme encourages young people of all ages, ethnic groups and disabilities to use sport as a facilitator to inspire positive change.
"The competitions are a perfect opportunity for young people to come together and play in a fun and competitive environment, which is professionally managed, and is another exciting development of our Liverpool FC Foundation."
Booker Avenue Primary School was one of the 17 schools that took part in the tournament at Goals Centre.
Deputy head teacher, Peter Graham, said: "It was a fantastic and enjoyable day for hundreds of kids to go and express themselves on the football pitch.
"Football is a powerful facilitator in helping kids improve their life skills and we are extremely positive about our relationship and the great work that the Liverpool FC Foundation is doing in this area."
The next tournaments will be held at North Liverpool Academy on 18, 19 and 22 February.
