John Barnes thinks top four places are up for grabs more than ever this season - and is adamant that Liverpool are still in the mix.

The Reds have a chance to reduce the deficit to fourth-placed Tottenham - currently 12 points with Liverpool having a game in hand - when Steve Clarke returns to Anfield with his West Bromwich Albion side on Monday night.

Barnes thinks Spurs and Liverpool are just two of the sides capable of securing Champions League qualification.

"It's the Premier League," he told LFC TV. "You look at Manchester United and Manchester City and, apart for City in the last month, they are the two consistent sides.

"Who is going to finish third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh? You're looking at Chelsea, who all of a sudden are not performing, and you're talking about Tottenham, Arsenal, Everton and ourselves.

"Are we that far off Tottenham? Would it surprise you if Tottenham lost next week? Chelsea are the same. Arsenal are dropping points. Apart from Manchester United, everyone is - because it's a difficult league.

"I know the teams above us are going to drop points. You cannot say the top four are playing so consistently well that we've got no chance. What we have to do is put a run together."
