Molby: He has all the attributes
Jan Molby believes Jamie Carragher has every attribute required to be a top manager.
The No.23 announced this week that 2012-13 would be his last as a professional footballer.
Carragher himself does not wish to talk about his future at this stage, preferring instead to concentrate on helping Liverpool finish the season on a high.
However, Molby is of the view that the 35-year-old would have no trouble making the transition to the dugout.
"If ever there was a player who was going to be a manager, it was Jamie Carragher," Molby wrote in the Liverpool Echo.
"Everyone is itching to know what he will do once he hangs up his boots. For me, Carragher has all the attributes you need to be a manager.
"He has a real love for the game and a real knowledge of it too.
"Because of the type of players he has played with at Anfield he would be able to work with all different sorts of footballers, not only the most talented.
"Jamie had to work really, really hard to make it at Liverpool and as a player in the Premier League so knows what it takes.
"But you can also comfortably see Jamie occupying a similar role in the media as Gary Neville has done.
"They are cut from the same cloth but if Jamie wants to be a manager then that's what he should do.
"For sentimental reasons everyone will feel sad about his decision because he has been a great part of the club for so long.
"But for football reasons? Jamie obviously feels it is the right time.
"He was used to being a first-choice centre-half at Liverpool for many years but he has understood his role in recent times as a bit-part player.
"His decision ends all the speculation but because of the player and man he is, there is still going to be a lot interest in Carragher and especially in his next move."
