'Sturridge can fire us to three points'
Martin Skrtel is relishing the prospect of Daniel Sturridge returning to action for Liverpool when they face Swansea at Anfield on Sunday.
The forward missed the Reds' last Barclays Premier League game against West Brom due to injury and was cup-tied for the trip to Russia to face Zenit St Petersburg mid-week.
However, Brendan Rodgers yesterday confirmed he will have Sturridge's attacking talents at his disposal when the Swans travel to Merseyside tomorrow.
And Skrtel is confident the 23-year-old can prove decisive in returning the Reds to winning ways after consecutive 2-0 defeats.
"I think in the games Daniel has started, he has shown his skills, his quality and his strengths," the defender told Liverpoolfc.com.
"He's proved he can help the team and so I hope he will be back in the side for Swansea.
"With him our attacking strength is much higher. You can see that in the games he's played so far. He links with Luis Suarez and with Steven Gerrard and he is a real danger for every defender he faces. He will help us to get the three points.
"He's a difficult player to mark, he's a top striker and its difficult to play against him in training."
The Swans' trip to Merseyside comes just a week before their Capital One Cup final clash against Bradford at Wembley, where the Welsh outfit will be looking to claim the club's first piece of major silverware.
But Skrtel insists the final will have no effect on Swansea's strategy and commitment when they walk out at Anfield eager to emulate their 3-1 cup success of last year.
"It doesn't matter if it's before or after the cup final because they have good experience in their team," said Skrtel.
"It's going to be tough and we know we have to do our best. After a few bad games, we have to show our quality and get the three points."
