Steven Gerrard excelled in the distribution stakes as Liverpool pulled Swansea to pieces and put five past Michel Vorm at Anfield on Sunday.

The skipper's passing was key to a resounding victory which helped the Reds climb to within three points of sixth-placed Everton in the Barclays Premier League.

Gerrard played more passes than any other player on the park (78) and touched the ball 95 times in all.

The 32-year-old controlled the play with 92.3 per cent pass accuracy, provided four shooting opportunities for his teammates and fired six crosses into dangerous areas during the course of the 90 minutes.

He also registered five efforts on goal and the midfielder's 34th-minute penalty capped a masterful performance.
