February Player of the Month revealed
Luis Suarez today clinched his fourth Standard Chartered Player of the Month award of the season so far after being voted February's star man by fans on this website. Watch the presentation and interview now for FREE.
The No.7 narrowly edged out new strike partner Daniel Sturridge in a closely-contested poll, with the former picking up 33 per cent of the total compared to 31 per cent.
Jamie Carragher finished third after collecting 11 per cent.
Suarez made five appearances for Liverpool during February, scoring three goals including a dramatic brace of free-kicks against Zenit St Petersburg and fine curling effort in the 5-0 win over Swansea.
He was also part of the Reds team that impressed in a 2-2 draw with Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium at the start of the month.
"My form has been the same as the team's," Suarez told Liverpoolfc.com upon being presented with the award at Melwood.
"When you play against Manchester City away it's incredible because it's two big teams playing out on the pitch.
"Against Swansea, we knew they were in a good position in the league, but when we won this match we knew we were in a better position than them.
"Then against Zenit, we tried our best on the pitch, but I think we lost the tie in Russia because we lost 2-0 there.
"We tried at Anfield but when we conceded an early it was more difficult. We tried our best to win and 3-1 wasn't bad, but we know conceding the early goal was costly for us."
Elimination from the Europa League at the hands of Zenit means Liverpool have just 11 Barclays Premier League matches left to play before the conclusion of the campaign.
Suarez added: "We know we only have only one competition for the rest of the season, but in the remaining matches, we hope we can finish in a good position in the league."
