'No referee - no game'
This weekend Liverpool FC will join football clubs around the country in showing their support for the 'Respect the Referee' campaign.
Organised in partnership with 'Don't X the Line', the annual event sees match officials don special shirts during their pre-match warm up.
Now in its 10th year, 'Don't X the Line' supports a zero-tolerance policy towards constant aggression, verbal abuse, bullying and racist comments on and off the football field.
It looks to reach out directly to grassroots participation and the initiative is aimed specifically at parents and supporters who are at the heart of bad touchline behaviour.
On March 16 and 17, referees and officials will wear the specially-printed shirts in order to raise awareness of the lack of respect in the game.
Liverpool's Jamie Carragher has offered his full support to the scheme.
Over the years the campaign has worked with a host of Premier League clubs, including Liverpool, and is supported by the FA, the Premier League itself, the Professional Footballers Association (PFA) and the League Management Committee.
