To discover the inside track on our opponents this weekend, we asked the pertinent questions of Southampton supporter Chris Ring.

How is Mauricio Pochettino getting on with the fans?

Obviously the whole Nigel Adkins situation took everyone by surprise. He had done such a fantastic job for us since taking over and he deserved a lot more respect than he got from our board. Having said that, this is not Pochettino's fault and as far as I'm aware, the fans have given him a warm welcome. He seems to have settled in well and the team have been playing some nice football under him even if the results have not come - at times we have been very unlucky.

Best way to beat Southampton?

Our defence seems to have settled down a lot since we played you at Anfield and doesn't seem to be as much of a problem. For me, if you manage to subdue our attacking threat early on - whatever the combination of Lambert, Rodriguez, Lallana, Puncheon and Ramirez is - then I think that will put some pressure on us. But I think at St Mary's we will be a different proposition than at Anfield.

Weak links?

For some reason Pochettino seems to like dropping young Luke Shaw and playing Fox and sometimes he can look a little lost. So possibly down that side if he chooses Fox.

Player we need to worry about?

From a purely goalscoring point of view, obviously you're looking at Lambert, but with Lallana and Ramirez behind him on our day we have several strong attacking options that can worry any defence in the league.

Which three players do you rate on our side?

Obviously Suarez has had another great season for you and is always a threat. I think that the purchase of Sturridge has been a fantastic one for you, giving that cutting edge in the box. With us just missing out on Coutinho, I think he also looks a brilliant buy.

Anywhere away fans can get a drink or some food?

Unfortunately there isn't anywhere very close to the stadium; most people end up in the city centre, where there are the usual mix of pubs dotted around, such as the Waterfront Bar in William Street, in an area called Shamrock Quay.

What can we expect from the atmosphere?

The home fans in the Northam Stand next to the away supporters will give the most noise, as you would expect! Obviously you'll hear the proper version of 'Oh when the Saints...' throughout the game.

Best and worst thing about a trip to St Mary's?

It's a lovely modern stadium so you will get a decent view of the game wherever you sit. As mentioned previously it is a 15/20 minute walk from the centre of town and there isn't much else around there so for your drinks before and after the game you're going to have a bit of a walk.

Prediction?

Rodgers has got you playing well of late so if we're not on our game from the off it could end up a difficult game for us. Hopefully we will settle early and if we do it will make for a decent game. I'm going for 1-1.
