England coach: He's feeling benefit
England U21s coach Brian Eastick believes Raheem Sterling is benefiting from Brendan Rodgers' decision to rest him.
Sterling featured heavily for Liverpool in the first half of the season but has started just four games in 2013.
He was back on the pitch and in impressive form to help England U21s beat Romania 3-0 on Thursday, and Eastick thinks a break has done the 18-year-old good.
"He was very good," he said. "He hasn't played a great deal of football of late so getting a game under his belt will benefit him.
"He is a talented player and possibly that rest has helped.
"Brendan felt he had to take him out of the firing line a little bit at Liverpool.
"He is a very young player. You do need to rest players at the right time."
Sterling could feature for Stuart Pearce's Young Lions side again on Monday when they take on Austria in their final game on home soil before the European Championships in Israel.
