Jonjo Shelvey scored a fantastic free-kick as England U21s beat Austria 4-0 in a Euro 2013 warm-up match at Brighton's Amex Stadium on Monday night.

Liverpool's No.33 had a fine match in an attacking central midfield role and netted the opening goal direct from a free-kick on the edge of the box after 39 minutes, after goalkeeper Richard Strebinger was sent-off for handling outside his penalty area.

Shelvey could have had a hat-trick. He drilled a shot just wide after 35 minutes and had a rasping drive brilliantly kept out after 53 minutes.

England's No.10 played for 61 minutes before being replaced by Anfield teammate Jordan Henderson who provided an assist with a magnificent pass to Connor Wickham for England's fourth goal.

Andre Wisdom played for 77 minutes at right-back, Raheem Sterling enjoyed a 61-minute run-out and Jack Robinson came on as a half-time substitute.

Austria ended the game with nine men and Josh McEachran and Marvin Sordell were England's other scorers.

It's now nine wins in a row for England U21s as Stuart Pearce's side head to the U21 European Championships this summer in Israel.
