Trickett-Smith brace secures point
A dramatic injury-time goal from Daniel Trickett-Smith earned Liverpool a 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur at the Academy on Wednesday afternoon.
Steve Cooper fielded a very young side and the blizzard-like conditions made life far from easy for the teams.
Nonetheless, things started well for the FA Youth Cup semi-finalists when Trickett-Smith fired Liverpool in front after just 40 seconds courtesy of a Kris Peterson assist.
Spurs fought back to level through Roman Michael-Percil before the winger also claimed a second after the break with a cross from the right edge of the box via a deflection off Yalany Baio.
However, in stoppage-time, Trickett-Smith salvaged a point for the Reds when he turned superbly in the penalty area and fired home to secure a 2-2 draw.
A point was the least Cooper's charges deserved as they showed great spirit, determination and never-say-die attitude.
Alex O'Hanlon, playing the No.10 role in a 4-3-3, had a fine match and twice went close for the Reds in the second half when his close-range drive was brilliantly kept out by Luke McGee and drilled a low drive inches past the post.
Spurs were always lively on the counter attack with Nathan Oduwa proving a constant menace to Baio down the left wing.
Ryan Fulton has been in fine form in the Liverpool goal this season and he had another outstanding match, making some excellent saves including two from point-blank range and tipping Oduwa's effort onto the bar.
