Carragher and Reina fitness latest
Liverpool first-team coach Mike Marsh has revealed that Jamie Carragher and Pepe Reina are available for selection against Aston Villa on Sunday after missing matches through injury.
Carragher was absent when the Reds travelled to Southampton earlier this month, while the Spanish goalkeeper has missed each of the last two fixtures with a calf problem.
Both are now back in contention for a starting berth at Villa Park this weekend.
"They're both available for selection, so it's a possibility," Marsh told Liverpoolfc.com on Wednesday.
Eight Liverpool players have been away on senior international duty during the past week, with a further five stars included for England's U21s side.
Marsh admitted he watches the club's representatives with caution when away from Melwood, but happily reported no fresh injury concerns for Brendan Rodgers' squad.
He added: "I've got to be honest, I'm watching the games and hoping that the players come back fit and well.
"Although you do want the players that are representing their country to get a positive result, I'm more concerned that when they come back to Melwood that they're fit and ready to play at the weekend.
"We seem to have come through unscathed; we've got one or two players missing who are flying back from international duty.
"They will arrive back tomorrow, they will still be in recovery and hopefully they will train on Friday."
And how will the travel involved with international encounters affect the Liverpool XI on Sunday?
"We'll see when they get back whether they have a clean bill of health once they get back into training, and we'll assess it then. I'm sure we'll pick the team on merit and with the bodies we've got available," said Marsh.
