BR delight as we take over England U21s
Brendan Rodgers has spoken of his delight after Liverpool took over the England U21 team this week.
The Reds had five representatives in Stuart Pearce's squad for their warm-up games ahead of this summer's European Championships - Andre Wisdom, Raheem Sterling, out-on-loan Jack Robinson, Jonjo Shelvey and skipper Jordan Henderson.
All featured, with Shelvey and Robinson getting themselves on the scoresheet.
Rodgers told Liverpoolfc.com: "A lot of those boys have also featured prominently in the Liverpool first team this season.
"It was great to see Raheem play. At the start of the season, he had a real freshness and enthusiasm and to think he was just 18 years of age as well. I thought he was very good in the game [for England].
"Then you've got Jonjo, who has done well. He scored a terrific goal in the second game and has been a key member of that England group for many years.
"It was great to see young Andre Wisdom being flexible - he can play in a couple of positions.
"And also to see young Jack Robinson, who got his goal in the first game coming in at the back post to turn home a cross from Jonjo. It was great.
"These boys are getting experience and they are preparing themselves at U21 level and then you hope that they can continue and develop and one day make the full international side."
