Brendan Rodgers cannot wait to see the incredible support Liverpool has in Thailand for himself after hearing stories of their passion from those at the club who have experienced it before.

Liverpool FC today announced the club will visit Thailand as part of their 2013 pre-season tour presented by Standard Chartered.

The Reds, who last visited Thailand in 2009, will play a match in Bangkok's Rajamangala National Stadium on Sunday, July 28 - and Rodgers cannot wait.

He told Liverpoolfc.com: "I haven't visited Bangkok before but having spoken to the people here who've experienced the Asia tour before, and knowing the levels of support we have out in those countries, I'm really interested to see that first hand.

"It's a privilege and a pleasure to bring the football club to a part of the world that is so accommodating to the club and that shows real passion.

"Having heard stories about the intensity and the sheer love for the club, it's going to be great to be around that type of support and to bring the club closer to them.

"Because they are so far away, they'll feel that the closest they get is on the TV and through the social media and technology, but to actually have Liverpool out there, I'm sure it's really exciting for them - but it's equally as exciting for us.

"We can't wait to get out there - the players, the staff are all looking forward to going.

"It really brings home the magnitude of this club and fills you with great pride, and it gives you even greater determination to fight for a club with so many passionate supporters."

Rodgers insisted that the Bangkok friendly would be a vital part of his pre-season preparations.

"Every game we'll take seriously because they're part of our preparations," he said. "We've tried to get the best opponents we possibly could.

"For us it's very much a part of our preparation and it will be an important stage of it."

Ticket details will be announced soon on www.liverpoolfc.com.
