The Brazilian scooped the accolade after collecting a massive 53 per cent of your vote.

It meant Coutinho pipped Suarez to the award, with his fellow South American picking up 20 per cent. Steven Gerrard was third (14 per cent).

Our new No.10 made four appearances during the month, scoring once at Southampton and starring in victories over Wigan Athletic, Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa.

Upon being presented with the award at Melwood, Coutinho told Liverpoolfc.com: "I would like to thank everyone who voted and I am very happy to receive this award. This means a lot to me. I have worked hard for this and hope to give more happiness to the fans.

"I am really happy here playing with my idols and all my teammates have welcomed me very well. I hope Liverpool end the season on top for us to be able to qualify for the Europa League and have a great season next year.

"The players that play upfront have the responsibility to create the runs and score goals. I hope to improve in future and help Liverpool by scoring more goals."

Coutinho has settled into life on Merseyside almost seamlessly since moving to Anfield from Inter Milan in January.

He admits adjusting to his new surroundings has been made easy by those around him at Melwood.

"This is a family club and I've been given a lot of help since my arrival," he said. "I am very happy here in Liverpool and hope to contribute to Liverpool's success and improve in my career."
