Oussama Assaidi is prepared to wait for his chance to shine in the Liverpool first team.

The Moroccan winger, who arrived from Heerenveen in August 2012, has featured 12 times in all competitions for the Reds this season.

He came on as a 71st-minute substitute during the 0-0 draw against West Ham on Sunday and is now eager to get more minutes under his belt.

"It's difficult if you don't play but I must have patience," he told Liverpoolfc.com. "I'll try to work hard and maybe the chance is coming.

"I am very happy to play for this big club - it's a dream. When I get minutes on the field, I enjoy it and it's very nice to play at Anfield.

"I think I have been training well but all I can do is wait for my chances. I think I need more power.

"Against West Ham, it was difficult for me to come in because I hadn't played for a while.

"I hope I'll get more minutes in other games but if not, I will stay here and work hard and give everything in training.

"I must have patience."

Assaidi will be keen to play his part when the Reds travel to Reading on Saturday.

The Royals currently sit bottom of the Barclays Premier League table, one point behind QPR and eight from safety with six games remaining.

Nigel Adkins' side have not won in the league since beating Sunderland on February 2.

However, Assaidi knows they will pose a threat at the weekend, especially given that the last time the two met a Raheem Sterling goal was all that separated the sides.

He reflected: "It was a good win because it is very difficult to play against the teams lower down the league.

"They defend and they want to take a point from the game - like with West Ham. It's very difficult to play against them because they defend and they play for a draw. Hopefully we can beat Reading again.

"Of course, they want to stay in the league and they will fight, but we have better quality and I think that if we show what we can do, then we will win this game."
