Liverpool fans have given their overwhelming backing to a decision by the Premier League to introduce goal-line technology from 2013-14.

British-based Hawk-Eye, who currently operate in cricket and tennis, has been awarded the contract after the 20 top-flight clubs today backed the proposal.

And our website poll shows supporters are on board - with 94 per cent saying they want goal-line technology.

Hawk-Eye uses seven cameras per goal to detect the ball and claims its system is "millimetre accurate, ensuring no broadcast replays could disprove the decision".

The Football Association will install a system at Wembley Stadium in time for August's Community Shield.

One of this club's most important ever goals - Luis Garcia's strike in the 2005 Champions League semi-final - would not have been affected by the technology, as it was clearly over the line.
