Shankly gets his own stamp
Bill Shankly has been immortalised on a stamp.
Royal Mail has produced a set of stamps in tribute to some of the greatest Britons whose birth dates have major anniversaries in 2013 - including the man who built the foundations of Liverpool's success in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s.
Shankly was born 100 years ago in 1913 and grew up in Glenbuck, Ayrshire.
He was in post at Anfield between 1959 and 1974, taking us from the old Second Division and delivering league championship and UEFA Cup glory.
The Scot was the first Liverpool manager to win the FA Cup.
Other stamps produced alongside the Liverpool legend feature former Prime Minister David Lloyd George and acting stars Vivien Leigh and Peter Cushing.
Shanks is not the only Anfield icon to be honoured on a stamp this year, with John Barnes and Kevin Keegan being selected in a team of Home Nations superstars to become first-class.
