New figures published by the Guardian newspaper show that Liverpool have won more top-flight points than any other team in England since the foundation of the Football League in 1888.

A total of 113 seasons have been completed, with the Reds competing in the highest division for 98 campaigns and amassing 5,220 points in the process - ahead of Arsenal and neighbours Everton.

Liverpool have played 3,901 top-flight fixtures during those 125 years, winning a record 1,800 of those, drawing 974 and losing 1,127 with a positive goal difference of 1,640.

At Anfield, the Reds have triumphed in 1,168 of their 1,950 matches - a win ratio of 59.89 per cent - and found the back of the net 3,926 times.

Only Aston Villa and Everton have completed more campaigns at England's highest level than the Reds, who have been crowned champions in 18 per cent of their top-flight seasons.
