Steven Gerrard needs just two goals to register 100 in the top-flight for Liverpool.

The skipper would become the 12th Reds player to score 100 league goals for Liverpool - the last was Michael Owen in April 2003.

The No.8 has only scored once for Liverpool in 34 appearances against Chelsea. His strike in October 2005 came in a 4-1 defeat at Anfield.

Earlier this season the sides drew 1-1 at Stamford Bridge. John Terry's 50th goal in his 558th appearance and his first in 33 games against Liverpool gave the Londoners the lead but Luis Suarez equalised with 17 minutes remaining.


The last meeting at Anfield, saw Liverpool win 4-1 last May. They led 3-0 after 28 minutes with goals from Michael Essien (OG), Jordan Henderson and Daniel Agger. Stewart Downing then missed a penalty on the stroke of half-time. Ramires pulled one back before Jonjo Shelvey scored his first league goal for the Reds.

The Reds are unbeaten in the last five league meetings since Chelsea won 2-0 at Anfield in May 2010 with goals from Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard.

Liverpool have won six of the last nine league meetings home and away and have lost just two of the last 12.

Glen Johnson made his Chelsea debut against Liverpool at Anfield in 2003. He went on to appear on 72 occasions for the club in all competitions from 2003-2007 scoring four times.

Patrik Berger scored Liverpool's last hat-trick against Chelsea at Anfield in October 1997 in a 4-2 win. He is one of four Liverpool hat-trick scorers in the league against the Londoners. The others were James Stewart in 1910, Fred Pagnam (1915) and Gordon Hodgson (1930).

Luis Suarez is without a goal in his last four league games. He requires one to become only the 11th different player to achieve the milestone of 30 goals in a season for the club.

Daniel Sturridge scored 24 goals in 96 appearances for Chelsea from 2009-13 including 13 in 63 league games. He scored for Chelsea in the Reds 2-1 victory at Stamford Bridge in November 2011.
