DS: He's a great man, he'll be missed
Daniel Sturridge has played with Jamie Carragher for just four months - but he is already fully aware of how much the 35-year-old is going to be missed at Anfield.
Sturridge's arrival on Merseyside in January coincided with Carragher re-emergence into the first team.
The Reds have kept seven clean sheets in the league since the No.23 was called up against Norwich on January 19 thanks in no small part to Carragher's vintage displays.
But Sturridge thinks the defender's retirement at the end of the campaign will leave just as big a void off the pitch as on it.
"He's a very experienced player who's been at this club for many, many years," Sturridge told Liverpoolfc.com.
"He'll be missed behind the scenes as well as on the football field. He's a great man as well as a great player.
"We wish him all the best when he moves onto his new job."
Sturridge played his 14th game for the Reds against Everton on Sunday but could not add to his tally of eight goals.
Instead the derby ended goalless - and Sturridge felt that was probably fair.
"It was a really tight game - they defended well, we defended well," he said. "There weren't many great chances. I had a couple, I think Stevie had a couple of shots as well. It was a really close game and it was probably a fair result in the end.
"It was a really high tempo, and a tense game - as expected."
