Ladies ready for Emirates test
Liverpool FC Ladies hope to gain revenge on Arsenal for their FA Cup semi-final defeat when they take on the Gunners at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night (kick-off 7pm BST).
Matt Beard's new-look side have been in great form so far this season and hope to show more signs of progression at the Emirates in the Women's Super League clash.
The Reds narrowly lost to Arsenal 2-1 in the FA Women's Cup semi-final at Anfield recently and they are out to put on a good show again in London on Tuesday night.
Looking ahead to the clash at the Emirates, Beard told Liverpoolfc.com: "When I was with Chelsea last year we played Arsenal at the Emirates and unfortunately the players were a little bit overawed by playing in that environment.
"Now we have played at Anfield this season that experience should kick us forward to take into this game.
"We are looking forward to it and hopefully we can continue our good start to the Super League campaign and put some early pressure on Arsenal.
"We had a good win over Lincoln in our first game and I have watched a lot of games in this league already, and I have to say there's nothing there I don't think we can beat.
"If we could go to Arsenal and win the game then that would send out a great message. I'm confident we can go and do that."
Having dominated the women's game in recent times the Gunners are still the big threat but Beard is hoping his new-look squad can rise to the occasion and push them all the way this season.
He added: "Arsenal are still the team to beat. They are an established team who have been together for years.
"Even when I was at Charlton this is virtually the same group. I know one or two left but they are back again now.
"They are a very good side but with the group that we've built here I'm confident we can have a good season.
"This is Arsenal's first league game of the season and we already have three points so if we could go to the Emirates and win that would be a great boost for us to be ahead of them so early on in the season."
