Ladies eye Chelsea scalp
Liverpool Ladies look to continue their impressive start to the Women's Super League season when they take on Chelsea at Staines Town FC on Sunday afternoon.
The ladies will face the Londoners in high spirits after their fantastic 4-0 victory over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. Kick-off at Staines is at 2pm BST.
It is also the first of two away trips to Chelsea with a Continental Cup clash against the same opposition on Sunday, May 19.
After two games the ladies are top of the Women's Super League and two points ahead of second placed Chelsea.
For manager Matt Beard it is a return to a club he was in charge of last season before making the switch to Merseyside.
"It will be good to go back to Chelsea," Beard told Liverpoolfc.com.
"They've had a big change around with their squad this year. I've got friends there I worked with and it will be good to see them, but from my perspective I'm the Liverpool manager now and I want us to be successful.
"I've got to be professional, the team have to be professional and if we can pick up points against the likes of Chelsea then that will be important for us to kick-start the campaign and be in a good position.
"We played exceptionally well at Arsenal in midweek and we can take a lot from that performance.
"With this group mentally they are strong and their eagerness to learn and improve has impressed me more than anything.
"This is the best group that I've worked with in terms of wanting to improve and wanting to learn. It's a refreshing group to work with."
